So delighted and excited to have won First Prize in the Create Longridge competition. Brilliant day, wonderful atmosphere and buzz around town despite all the rain! Over 70 artists took part and many sat outside painting in the rain all day. Fortunately I had a barn up on the fell to paint under. A lot of pressure to complete the painting in the day and without messing it up. It wasn’t easy. BBC 1 filmed the event for the regional program Inside Out on Mondays at 7.30. They interviewed me after I won ..so I think I will be on telly sometime soon! An exhibition all the artists work is on display in The Longridge Gallery for this week until Sunday 11th September.
SO Exciting to be taking part in this new event on Saturday 3rd September. I will be up on the fells above Longridge painting all day. Visitors welcome .. if you can find me!* There will be dozens of artists around Longridge painting and the winners are announced on the day.
As I used to live near here and spent many days cycling and walking in the area, this is a really exciting opportunity to return and paint it.
A week long exhibition starts on the Sunday in Longridge of all the finished entries.
* I have found a gorgeous spot to paint high above Longridge and the host property has generously offered to open up to the public and there may even be tea and cakes! To find me either ask at the hub in Longridge for directions or follow the bottom road out of town past Sainsbury’s and turn right at Alston Pub onto Chipping Lane. Stay on this road past Derby Arms and past Ferraris until you see a right turn at Four Acre Lane.
I am delighted to have been chosen to be in this exciting exhibition at The Gallery at Rheged, Penrith. The exhibition is open from 9th September until 13th November, 10.30 – 4.30. The public can vote for their favourite artist so please go along and cast your vote.
