A rainy painting trip to Mull

Just returned from an inspiring, but incredibly rainy and windy painting trip, to The Isle of mull and Iona.

Painting outdoors can be quite challenging and frustrating when up against rain storms and strong winds. When all your equipment and materials get soaked its not pleasant. Transporting all my materials and paintings across fields and beaches in the wind and rain is sometimes difficult. However, these weather conditions can often create the most interesting colours and atmosphere. I have returned buzzing with inspiration to work on some larger paintings and mono prints that should keep me busy for the coming weeks. The Hebrides is stunning in all weathers, the colours, the contrasts, the huge skies and the beautiful beaches.

As you can see in the photograph there was one sunny day! The rest of the time I was wearing wooly hat, fleece and waterproofs.
