My new Studio with Gallery space is the most wonderful space in which to work as well as to display and exhibit in a beautiful environment”.

Built 3 years ago next to her home in Arnside, Tracy says she still feels the excitement and joy when entering her studio, it is such a peaceful, inspiring and uplifting place in which to work. Designed with her son they created a light filled space that is perfect for both working and exhibiting. The views of the Estuary and Lakeland fells beyond are an added bonus.

Tracy’s landscapes, seascapes, and wild flower subjects often mean painting outdoors in situ in and around Cumbria as well as travelling to her favourite locations in The Outer Hebrides, the Yorkshire Dales, Southern France and Spain.

During the past year, being more confined to the small area of the AONB landscape on her doorstep has led to an intense local focus with acute observation of this stunning environment.

A positive side to the situation has been that Tracy has been prolific and a large number of paintings has been produced and even though she has been painting around South Lakeland for more than 25 years, the lockdown has given rise to more contemplation of her environment with a different perspective and new material.

Tracy often finds the beauty in nature that most people would overlook or ignore, for example in a clump of weeds or wildflowers on a road side. A welcome addition, and to which Tracy says “they just keep creeping in”, is the inclusion of more birds in recent work being depicted amongst foliage and within her landscapes.

The lockdown has given me time to solely concentrate on my work without all the other work and distractions that being an artist involves, such as: visiting framers, printers, graphic designer, photographer, gallery deliveries, website and much more. Which for me, this is perfect!”

Tracy warmly welcomes and loves having visitors to her studio, which she has missed during lockdowns. Many new works are on display and visitors can now book their visit.

A rainy painting trip to Mull

Just returned from an inspiring, but incredibly rainy and windy painting trip, to The Isle of mull and Iona.

Painting outdoors can be quite challenging and frustrating when up against rain storms and strong winds. When all your equipment and materials get soaked its not pleasant. Transporting all my materials and paintings across fields and beaches in the wind and rain is sometimes difficult. However, these weather conditions can often create the most interesting colours and atmosphere. I have returned buzzing with inspiration to work on some larger paintings and mono prints that should keep me busy for the coming weeks. The Hebrides is stunning in all weathers, the colours, the contrasts, the huge skies and the beautiful beaches.

As you can see in the photograph there was one sunny day! The rest of the time I was wearing wooly hat, fleece and waterproofs.

customer feedback

I receive so many absolutely wonderful comments and emails from customers and visitors to the gallery. It hadn’t previously occurred to me to keep these and post them on my website! However, I feel it may be helpful to those of you thinking about a visit, or those of you considering an online purchase. I am so grateful for all your feedback.

Here are some examples, that I will keep updated …

TRACY

Just wanted to thank you for making my retirement gift so special. It is such a wonderful painting that has so much meaning for me! Thank you also for making a special exception too.

Hello Tracy

Just a quick note to let you know how much my Mum and Dad love your picture of Iona. They have it at the foot of their bed and Mum says seeing it first thing every morning gives her a fantastic start to the day!

Hi Tracy

It was really good to meet you yesterday and thank you so much for giving us as much decision time in your fabulous studio.

We absolutely love the painting – even more so now it is home! You were absolutely right about the colours and tone changing – we are already seeing more each time we look at it.

Hi Tracy
We are delighted with the 2 pictures.  Not in the place we originally thought but near each other in a light, airy space. I love the contrast of colourful nature against the man-made structure in the Pinks. They make us smile and already hung!
Mrs S. (Cumbria) June 2020

Dear Tracy

I just wanted you to know how absolutely thrilled we are with the print of Andnamurchan we bought from you yesterday.  It’s as though it was waiting for us to come for it! It is now the focal point of our living room and will give us pleasure always.
Best wishes
Mrs N  ( Cumbria) July 2020
Dear Tracy
We had a lovely lockdown celebration for mum and dad’s anniversary and your painting topped of the day beautifully – they absolutely love it and it is already up, pride of place, on the lounge wall. We are incredibly grateful (and relieved) that we had the opportunity to get hold of it so early as obviously, it has proved a big hit with so many! So to those people who love it as much as us, I’m sorry but we’re keeping it!

Update and important information for visitors

It has been wonderful to welcome you all back!

Hi All

I have been very busy over the past few of months engrossed in working in the studio inspired by my local landscape. The lockdown has given me time to solely concentrate on my work without all the other work that being an artist involves, such as: visiting framers, printers, graphic designer, photographer, gallery deliveries etc etc.

Prior to lockdown I had produced some new work that was ready for a May Open Studio I had planned but that sadly couldn’t take place.

I have been clearly focused and lucky to have the quiet peaceful space in which to work. I can’t wait to show you all the new work. I suspect there won’t be big groups in the studio for some time so I am working towards holding an exhibition whereby time slots are allocated over maybe a week or 2 week period for arranged visits. I will send out an email nearer the time when plans are in place so if your not on my mailing list please add yourself or email me if you would like to be kept informed.

In the meantime you can arrange a visit to the studio by email or phone but expect a more messy surrounding as I am working. There is currently a lot of work on display and browsers with prints. Prints can also be ordered online. Greeting cards can be ordered in pack of 12 via the shop menu on this website.

Important  Information for visitors

In order to provide a comfortable and safe environment for all, please read the following  health and safety guidelines for visiting the studio.
A specific day and time slot will be allocated for visitors.
Please do not visit the studio if you or any members of your household have been ill in the last 14 days or you feel unwell.
If you feel comfortable please wear a face covering or mask if others are in the studio at the same time.
Please use the sanitiser gel at the door upon entry and exit.
.
The preferred method of payment for paintings and prints is BACS please, but if don’t have online banking then a cheque is acceptable.
(For the time being, Greeting cards will only be sold in gift packs of 12.)
If you cannot use your pre booked time slot please let me know as soon as possible, so this frees up a slot for someone else. It also means that I can plan my work around visitors more easily.
Please try to be on time to avoid unnecessary overlaps with other visitors, but we understand delays happen.
Usually there is a good time gap between visitors.
Generally visits will be limited to one household or to you and your friend but very occasionally 2 groups may be in the studio at the same time. The studio is very spacious with many windows and can easily accommodate this but please observe social distancing measures.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation to keep everyone safe.
