Scotland painting trip

I have just had an amazing 2 weeks painting on Ardnamurchan and Iona. Unbelievable weather too. It was stunning, peaceful and so quiet and incredibly inspiring of course. I have been several times to Iona to paint on the same beach and never tire of it.

A couple of the new works will be in this summers Lake Artists Society summer exhibition at Grasmere along with 4 Cumbrian landscape paintings, but the rest I’m afraid will probably not be released until next year.

Front Cover !

So very pleased to have my painting featured on the front cover of this fabulous magazine. This painting titled Daisy, Daisy will be in my forthcoming exhibition

Bright and Beautiful at Brantwood on Coniston from 17th June – 3rd Sept.

I just love this title REAL WEALTH it seems so apt with my painting. On the inside cover another of my paintings Fields of Gold ( also for Brantwood exhibition ) is also published. It is wonderful to be associated with this magazine.cover302_4page.inddinside cover

I’m looking forward to a very busy 2017.

Brantwood JUNE 17th – SEPTEMBER 4th

Firstly, I have a major solo exhibition at the prestigious Brantwood, Coniston, the former home and studio of John Ruskin from. I have been working on this body of work over the past 3 years and have just stated putting together the 32 page exhibition brochure. It is all ‘floral’ themed : weeds, meadows, hedgerows as well as garden flowers and a series of large hydrangeas paintings.

I am currently working on a series of water lily based mono prints which are going very well and have been very engaging.

I am really looking forward to seeing it all come together as it has been a really exciting and enjoyable body of work to produce.  You will be able to  order a full colour exhibition brochure from the online shop on this website prior to the exhibition. This will be released in May. As soon as brochures are released work can be purchased. However, the work will be hung in the exhibition until September.

An online brochure will also be available to view on this site.

There will also be many new cards and reproduction prints released to coincide with the exhibition.

The preview will be SATURDAY 17th JUNE. Invitations will be sent out late May. If you are not on my mailing list and would like an invite subscribe either via this site or email direct.

For more details about Brantwood see their website.

The Lake Artists Society

In July – Sept I will be exhibiting with The Lake Artists Society in Grasmere with about 6 new works. I was formally elected a member in 2016!

I was on BBC1 – briefly! The program Inside Out North West filmed the Create Longridge competition that I won first prize in. The Create Longridge competition starts about 19 mins through the program and I am on near the end!  ( sorry, link no longer available).

Lake Artists Society

I have just been selected for membership to the Lake Artists Society. It has been a long process!

I will be exhibiting 2 new paintings with them in their Winter Exhibition at the Upfront Gallery from November 16th – January 15th.

First Prize !

So delighted and excited to have won First Prize in the Create Longridge competition. Brilliant day, wonderful atmosphere and buzz around town despite all the rain! Over 70 artists took part and many sat outside painting in the rain all day. Fortunately I had a barn up on the fell to paint under. A lot of pressure to complete the painting in the day and without messing it up. It wasn’t easy.  BBC 1  filmed the event for the regional  program Inside Out on Mondays at 7.30. They interviewed me after I won I think I will be on telly sometime soon! An exhibition all the artists work is on display in The Longridge Gallery for this week until Sunday 11th September.IMG_4512IMG_4524IMG_4529

Create Longridge

SO Exciting to be taking part in this new event on Saturday 3rd September. I will be up on the fells above Longridge painting all day. Visitors welcome .. if you can find me!* There will be dozens of artists around Longridge painting and the winners are announced on the day.

As I used to live near here and spent many days cycling and walking in the area, this is a really exciting opportunity to return and paint it.

A week long exhibition starts on the Sunday in Longridge of all the finished entries.

* I have found a gorgeous spot to paint high above Longridge and the host property has generously offered to open up to the public and there may even be tea and cakes! To find me either ask at the hub in Longridge for directions or follow the bottom road out of town past Sainsbury’s and turn right at Alston Pub onto Chipping Lane. Stay on this road past Derby Arms and past Ferraris until you see a right turn at Four Acre Lane.
